I’m in the land of waterways: where rivers, canals, and ditches crisscross and ferries are just as indispensable as scooters. The province is cradled by the two main branches of the Mekong, appropriately named the Front and the Back branches. Every year for 2 to 3 months, the water rises and drowns large swathes of land and road transport is rendered close to nil.

Boats here have eyes so that they can see the way.
